The recent release of information about a Pentagon UFO study program, known as AATIP (Advanced Aeronautic Threat Identification Program), after decades of government denial about the subject, creates new uncertainties and possibilities for post-industrial economic development trajectories and for financial assets. At least ten former intelligence and national defense officials associated with the To The Stars Academy of Arts and Science (TTSA), a public-benefits company, have come forward to support the idea of new research and investigation into the subject of AAVs (Anomalous Aerial Vehicles), better known as UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) or UFOs. The story is fully described in the front page The New York Times article published on December 18, 2017. A follow-up article appeared in July 23rd, 2020 concerning the Senate Armed Services Committee briefings on recovery of complex and advanced non-manmade materials from aerial vehicles of unknown origin.
In a recent op-ed piece in The Washington Post on March 12, 2018, former deputy assistant Director of Defense under the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations, Chris Mellon, criticizes the Department of Defense and the Federal Government for not treating the UFO issue more seriously. He argues that this mysterious, advanced technology has potentially vast consequences for national security, especially if another country were to gain access to it. (We would argue this technology also has potentially vast consequences for the equities of aerospace technology companies and other financial assets.) Mellon is a consultant to TTSA, which recently released three videos purporting to show these objects as they outmaneuvered U.S. Navy F/A-18 airplanes on both the East and West coasts of the United States. Mellon and his associates argue that these unidentified aerial objects are too fast to be attributable easily to any conventional aerospace technology, and that they are not the property of any known country.
Clearly, some kind of technology is operating in and near U.S. airspace that cannot be explained by our known means of propulsion, flight surfaces and aerodynamic capabilities, and cannot be replicated by our known aircraft and rockets. In contrast with prior claims of various sightings over the decades this time former members of the U.S. national defense, intelligence and political communities (including U.S. Senators such as Harry Reid of Nevada) are coming forward with evidence they find persuasive.
This vast subject engenders some of the biggest possible paradigm shifts in human consciousness and endeavor imaginable.
Possibilities and Implications
We see three possible scenario outcomes to this new reality with differing impacts on the economy, financial assets, the political sphere and society as a whole.
First, all of this purported evidence is a hoax. This does not seem likely as the credentials of the individuals staking their reputations on these disclosures are quite high and include generals and high-ranking air force officials. (The report of the prestigious French Sigma/3AF Commission in 2010 also concluded, because of the vast quantity of decades of official U.S.documents about the subject, that hoaxing is an unlikely explanation, and that the phenomenon was real and possibly extraterrestrial.)
Second, a secret aerospace research, development and construction program exists that consumes a huge amount of human and financial resources, is technologically far in advance of any publicly-acknowledged program, and is not officially acknowledged by any known country or company.
Third, an unknown presence with technology which defies a conventional understanding of physics and aerodynamics is engaging with the Earth and is being observed by military aircraft and warships for unknown reasons. This third scenario itself presents three possibilities: First, the presence originates from far away and is passively employing robotic vehicles or drones. Second, the presence is actively engaging the Earth and its inhabitants. Third, the presence is hidden amongst the Earth’s population as humans, animals, plants or of a non-organic origin.
Finally, if there is an unknown presence, it might of be one of the following: 1) an extraterrestrial origin; 2) an unknown Earth origin; or 3) another dimension entirely, an idea which could be consistent with the latest multiverse theories.
With any of the possibilities listed above there are varying degrees of uncertainty, and the realization of and disclosure of information about any of these possibilities will have large social, economic, political and investment consequences. This subject could become the ultimate Black Swan event with continuing and unforeseen impacts.
